Where to get more information on foot biomechanics?

The regular livestream, PodChatLive which is a live show for Podiatrists to acquire some free ongoing continuing education has gotten on many outstanding and famous guests from the podiatry profession who generously as well as freely give there time to respond to questions and discuss their area of expertise. The videos of the live chat are on YouTube as well as the website and the audio version is on most podcast programs. An early on guest in the livestreams was Dr. Kevin Kirby, DPM in which he discussed foot biomechanics and  his seminal and popular publication on rotational equilibrium, his thoughts about the tissue stress theory as well as his viewpoint on whether or not any present understanding of Root Theory is necessary to examine and properly treat our patients. The issues generated some intriguing discussion during the episode.

Kevin Kirby graduated in 1983 from the California College of Podiatric Medicine after which carried out his first year surgical residency in Palo Alto, California at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. He then spent his subsequent post-graduate year undertaking the Fellowship in Podiatric Biomechanics at CCPM where he also acquired his masters degree.

Dr. Kirby has released or co-authored 28 papers in professional journals, has written or co-authored 5 chapters in books, and has now written five books on foot and lower extremity biomechanics and foot orthotic treatment, all of these have now been translated into Spanish language editions. Kevin evolved the Subtalar Joint Axis Palpation Technique, the Anterior Axial Radiographic Projection, the Supination Resistance Test, the Maximum Pronation Test and the Medial Heel Skive and Lateral Heel Skive Techniques. He has furthermore created and formulated the Subtalar Joint Axis Location and Rotational Equilibrium Theory of Foot Function and has co-developed the Subtalar Joint Equilibrium and Tissue Stress Approach to Biomechanical Therapy of the Foot and Lower Extremity. Dr Kirby has lectured publicly throughout the world on lots of occasions and has in addition lectured substantially all around the USA.
